“When Others Go Low” Michelle Obama/Sexy Saxophone Man Mural (May 2019)

Project: Inspired by the former First Lady Michelle Obama’s convention speech. “When Others Go Low” is the face of the new Uptown Market on Del Pas Boulevard. From the creators of River City Marketplace, the new Uptown Market on the Boulevard hosts 65+ creative vendors every Saturday. The Del Paso location is under a revitalization and the mural’s location is a beacon to highlight that transformation.
On the backside of the building, Sexy Saxophone Man, an ode to the wind wood instrument repairman who rose to fame as a YouTube sensation through pranking and self-publishing. The mural pushes the theme of interaction and dreaming to another level with an interactive sculptural saxophone which allows visitors to stand and pose with the entire mural.
